Small Computer System Interface

Das Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) ist eine parallele Schnittstelle. SCSI wird vor allem zum Anschluss von Festplatten genutzt.

SCSI wird auch "skazi" ausgesprochen.

SCSI wurde 1979 als SASI (Shugart Associates System Interface) ursprünglich von der Firma Shugart Technology eingeführt.

SCSI-1 arbeitet mit einem 8 Bit breiten Bus. Im Synchronbetrieb können 5 MB/s übertragen werden. Die aktuelle Variante Ultra-320-SCSI schaufelt 320 MB/s über den Bus.

SCSI-Festplatten werden heute vor allem in Serversystem eingesetzt.
